This friendship continues to blossom. Every time we go past Pepper‘s house Rocket is looking for her and today she decided to come on a walk with us. We ended up having to turn around and take her home because I was worried she was venturing, too far away from her home. What a sweet cat. She genuinely likes Rocket and he her…. I just love the little tap on his leg at the end.
Meet little Boorie, he attended Puppy School with us @myvetanimalhospital and today is his first day @myvetdoggydaycare. What a joyous little puppy he is Check out those balls skills. If only his mouth was bigger, but size doesn’t seem to matter with Boorie. He plays beautifully with gentle bigger dogs as he has only had positive experiences so far. His dad Troy is doing a wonderful job with his confidence in making sure that the settings, he puts him in a safe and monitored, so his confidence will continue to grow. #chihuahua #chihuahuapuppy
Keeping cool, the Greyhound way! Look at that little rabbit snout…. #hotdog #rescuegreyhound
We certainly do have the cutest graduates in town. Here’s a handful of the clever puppies who were presented with their puppy school certificate for elementary studies in being the best dog you can be!
Congratulations to all our graduates this weekend! Featured are Boorie, Ethan, Teddy and Tequila. #puppyschool #puppygraduates
Meet gorgeous little Eric who recently had a sudden change in behaviour around his mealtimes.
His mum cooks for him every night as he has special dietary requirements and he suddenly didn’t want his dinner.
He wasn’t sick, and for a couple of days he would except his dinner if his dad presented it, but then he started refusing it even with dad.
I suspected his bowl might of had something to do with it, as I have seen this sort of problem occasionally before and after discussing this with his mum Lauren,
She mentioned that his two legged baby sister Maggie was sometimes playing and banging his food bowl and other times during the day
Eric is a sound sensitive dog as he had obviously associated his food bowl with an aversive, so we changed his food bowl and popped some boundaries in place around Maggie playing with it in future and Eric is back enjoying his meals!
Some sudden behaviour changes aren’t obvious, and you really need to delve into what’s going on to work out why those changes have happened
The first thing to rule out is anything physical, which often means taking your pet to see the vet, for a full physical check and then if they give them the all clear - you know it’s behavioural.
This is Rascal who lives in Cape Canaveral in Florida with my friend John Sterritt.
John is a senior engineer with Lokheed and manages one of the crews responsible for the main propulsion system when they launch the space shuttles.
He sent me this photo today of his dog Rascal getting ready for the next launch. I thought it was so cute! #germanshepherd #spaceshuttle
Little Miss Molly is now using her manners when she asks her mummy to throw the ball.
Rachel contacted me explaining that Molly had become a little ball obsessed and was barking incessantly at her to throw the ball at the park
We worked on some boundaries, and within a very short amount of time, Molly has responded, and her behaviour has modified significantly
Molly is usually a very well mannered little girl and this was really the only problem that her mum had with her. Sometimes it’s hard to work out what to do with behaviour that is making things tricky, especially when you’re emotionally involved.
We were able to sort this out in one session, and it’s only been a few days now with Rachel implementing her new boundaries and Molly is making definite progress!
Well done, Rachel and Molly!
