Suppression of our dog’s normal behaviours can lead to frustration and anxiety related behaviour.
We ask SO much of them….
Remember to let your dog just be a dog sometimes. It’s SO important for their overall well-being.
If they are due for a bath, maybe let them lay down in the muddy puddle, dig in an area that you can fill back in and it won’t affect anyone else, bark when they’re playing with another dog, as long as the other dog is okay with it.
Let them have a good old roll when they want to unless it’s in something stinky!
These things make them happy, fulfilled and enriched.

Exited to now be able to offer expert help for dogs with noise phobias!
Continuing education is important to me and I’m thrilled to say that I have have just completed the comprehensive Noise Phobia in Dogs course with Dr Else Verbeek @amazinganimalminds

My Greyhound Rocket struggles with fireworks and backfires from cars. I am going to be starting his exposure therapy very soon, so New Year’s Eve fireworks this coming year should be much easier to manage.

With Easter on the horizon, perhaps think of something really healthy to feed your dog/s…..
Rocket will be eating his Lyka over Easter 🐰🐶🐰
If you would like to try Lyka for your dog/s I can get you 50% off your first order just head to the link in my bio.
On another note - be careful with Easter eggs - chocolate is toxic if you are a dog, but they don’t know that and I’m sure it tastes just as yummy to them as it does to us!
If you accidentally leave Easter eggs on the couch or on any low lying areas, they could be gobbled up and then you would have to make a quick trip to your Vet to induce vomiting.
For larger dogs, they might even be able to “counter surf” and get them off a kitchen counter. So push them right to the back if you’re keeping them there.

BEFORE/DURING and AFTER with Betty and Molly
These girls had an absolute blast when they came over for some confidence building agility/parkour fun today (they did do some agility as well), but I thought their zooming was priceless!
Molly (charcoal coloured munchkin) is quite reactive on lash and sometimes off leash so it’s tricky for their mum. Rosie to take them to the park hence spending time with us in the Zoom Room meant that they could run around to their hearts content and just have a blast without any other dogs around.
If you’d like to have some fun with your dog head on down!
DM me for details or go to my website www.workingwithwoofers.com and you can book in on the agility page.

Would you bite someone if they took your plate away when you were in the middle of eating your meal? If you didn’t bite, I bet you would growl. I certainly would!
Imagine enjoying your favorite meal, only to have someone repeatedly interrupt or take your plate away! Frustrating, right? Did we ever stop to think that dogs might feel the same way?
Constantly touching or removing a dog’s food while they’re eating may lead to resource guarding, as they may feel the need to protect their food. This behavior stems from a natural instinct to safeguard valuable resources.
If the dog is a rescue, and has come from a background where there was competition around food, or was deprived of food, then the chances of resource guarding are higher.
What can we do to try and prevent resource guarding with dogs that are not already guarding?
🐶 Respect Mealtime: Allow dogs to eat without unnecessary interruptions.
🐶 Positive Associations: Instead of taking food away, drop something delicious into their bowl as you walk past, to build trust.
🐶 Safe Environment: Ensure a peaceful eating area, free from potential threats or competition.
If you have more than one dog - feed them separately, even if they seem ok around each other when they’re eating. That can change over time when one dog is repeatedly pushed off their food by another
Keep toddlers and small children well away from food bowls or when a dog is chewing on something like a lambs ear for example. Teach those who are old enough to understand not to approach dogs when they are eating.
By understanding and respecting our dogs’ needs, we can foster a trusting relationship and help prevent unwanted behaviors.

Are Zoomies a highlight or a handful in your house?
It’s that time of day/night again and “LOOK OUT” your puppys going crazy!
Why is this happening?
🐶 Pent-up Energy: after periods of inactivity or if particularly puppies are overtired.
🐶 Excitement or Happiness: Moments of joy, such as when you come home from work, can mean energetic displays.
🐶 Stress or Anxiety Relief: After stressful events your dog might start zooming to alleviate some tension.

🐶 Specific Times of Day: Dogs are naturally more active during dawn and dusk.
🐶 After elimination: Some dogs like mine zoom after doing a no. 2
If you love the Zoomin and everyone is safe around you sit back and have a good laugh BUT always supervise your dog during these outbursts to make sure there are no injuries or potential accidents…..
If you find them challenging here are some management tips:
🐶 Try and be proactive rather than reactive!
If you know roughly around what time your dog starts zooming then be prepared:
🐶 Head-out for a nice slow sniff walk just before the chaos begins!
🐶 Then pop down some pre-prepared enrichment items and channel some of that excess energy into sniffing through snuffle mats, licking a Licky mat, chewing on a lamb ear or prepare a treasure hunt with some treats or use your dogs dry food if they eat dry food
🐶 once they’re finished, their enrichment try some “relaxation on the mat”, reinforcing them for being calm and then you have really cut into that tumultuous timeframe!
